Take a New look at Dining

Boy, has the dining room ever changed. Today, many homes feature open floor plans, and there is no “dining room” anymore. The big open area that is home to the kitchen and eating area is where we have most our meals. Some kitchens now have sitting areas with fireplaces and bars and to find a table is tough. Life has become very casual. Comfort and efficiency, the ease of maintenance is the way of life now.

Casual dining creates a cozier, more intimate atmosphere. One of the most successful “new” dining ideas has been the gathering table — tables that are higher off the ground and have pub stools or barstools as the chairs. Our gathering tables come in all different woods and designs, from art deco to sleek contemporary to casual to traditional. The gathering table has for our customers become the focal point in their kitchen or eating area. Of course you eat there, but you also play games there, do homework there, or just converse there. The extra height of the chairs is great too.

Some of our more casual dining sets have beautiful beveled glass tops with very cool bases, great chairs and some have baker’s racks and most have barstools. The beauty of a casual dinette is that it can be dressed up with decorative linens and tableware, or dressed down to reveal its simplistic style. We use these in so many of our condominium projects.

Of course, we have tables for a more formal application too, along with the matching china’s, buffets, and sideboards. These groups are very elegant without breaking the bank. Everyone loves the look of formal dining.

So many of our dining collections feature coordinating pieces which can provide additional workspace, serving areas, display or storage for accents and accessories. China cabinets or curios are perfect for showcasing colorful dishes and glassware. Baker’s racks also offer open display and many are designed with hanging glass storage and/or a wine rack.

Many of our gathering tables have sideboards in the various collections. Sideboards are fun for buffets, or displaying your child’s newest Play-dough creation.
